HCA - ICU / HDU

Assist individual patients with elements of basic nursing care and the implementation of programmes of care under the direction of a registered nurse. Assist with obtaining, transmitting and storing information related to the delivery of a care service. See section regarding Respect for Patient Confidentiality below. Assist and contribute to the movement and treatment of patients to achieve physical comfort and minimise the adverse effects of pressure according to the prescription of care. Report areas of concern to qualified staff. Assist individual patients with activities of daily living according to individual needs including personal hygiene, appearance, oral care, fluid and dietary intake. To undertake work involving specialist skills following satisfactory assessment of competence and under the direction of a trained nurse, i.e o Patient escort to and return from X-Ray, Wards and Departments o Patient escort to theatre o Observations, MEWS scoring, fluid balance, health measurement o Urinalysis o Collection of specimens
