Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen on B14. The role of the HCA is to assist in maintaining the highest possible standard of care under the supervision of a Registered nurse. To maintain a tidy and welcoming environment for patients and relatives. The staff will be involved with many members of the MDT., The ward is a busy, modern unit with a professional but friendly team delivering high standards of care. We are looking for a highly enthusiastic, motivated and committed support worker to deliver high quality holistic nursing care to patients and to join our forward thinking and ever developing team. You should have good communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to work effectively as part of the team and deal with complex sensitive information in a professional manner., Responsible for providing a range of personalised care for patients under the guidance and supervision of a registered nurse including: assisting patients with personal hygiene, toileting, use of continence aids, catheter care, measuring patient output, support patients nutritional and hydration needs, moving and handling, use of mobility appliances, correct patient positioning, ensuring patient safety, taking specimens and observing patients for changes in condition. Airway management and catheter and urostomy care. Having an understanding in managing, providing appropriate care and the ability to escalate when needed. To support the productive operation of the ward environment by undertaking a range of non-clinical activities which contribute to the maintenance of a safe and clean environment.
- Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification and completion of First Steps programme
- Competent numeracy and literacy skills
- Prior experience working at a senior HCA level or Development from HCA Band 2 role
- Clear and accurate written/verbal communication and listening skills
- Ability to support/supervise other learners
- Demonstrates ability to act sympathetically and sensitively with people
- Supportive team player
- Works to Trust Values Desirable criteria
- Successful completion of Level 2 Functional skills, Maths and English
- Ability to perform higher level tasks eg venepuncture, cannulation, ECG recording
- Experience in role of supervising others, and able to provide guidance and support
- Performing HCA Band 3 role for a minimum of 6 months to a good level with testimony from Ward/Team Manager.
- Demonstrable personal drive and commitment to develop skills and seeks progression within the Trust
- Tracheostomy and Laryngectomy care experience
