The Orthopaedic Department has undergone significant changes in recent years. We are always striving to develop both our elective and emergency hand surgery in Gloucestershire and this presents an opportunity for continued improvement for our hand surgery service.

Elective surgery is performed mainly in Cheltenham, Cirencester and Tewkesbury Hospitals. Trauma surgery is performed mainly in Gloucester. Cheltenham, Gloucester and Cirencester are equipped with mini-C arms, which you will be trained to use. The trauma service is busy - we run 2-3 all day trauma lists 7 days a week. We have a significant amount of hand trauma and manage all injures locally except burns and those requiring microsurgery.

The post is for one year, but the contract can be renewed depending on the performance of the postholder.

This is a full-time post. However, any candidate who is unable, for personal reasons, to work full time will still be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis. Job share applicants are also welcome.
