Full Job Description

The post-holder is responsible for providing holistic welfare support to ensure programme outputs are delivered effectively.

The post holder will take a lead on all specific welfare or aspects of the Armed Forces Programme.

Responsible for day-to-day delivery, and subsequent performance management, adjusting plans as required to ensure that risks and issues are mitigated across the welfare spectrum.

The post holder will work with clinicians and managers to ensure provision of the best possible staff and patient experience and service delivery.

The post holder will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective management of interdependencies and delivery of objectives welfare pathways.

It is expected that the specific landscape managed by the post holder will change over time as the capability and collaboration opportunities grow., Armed Forces Welfare Management

Provide welfare management expertise to the Armed Forces Community and ensure that the trust staff are briefed and have clear responsibilities, when patients are identified as being in the Armed Forces community.

Work in an agile manner, supporting programme and organisational priorities where required.

Communicate information on the delivery progress of the welfare spectrum you are responsible for

Provide scheduled highlight and exception reports into the programme, tracking patient pathways.

Keep meticulous records and ensure data and reports are provided in a timely manner, with full understanding of the need to demonstrate return on investment to other agencies.

Organise and monitor welfare resources to ensure their effective use while delivering against agreed programme objectives.

Recognise safeguarding issues quickly and immediately report any concerns regarding children or vulnerable adults to the appropriate agencies.

Support evaluation and audit of welfare data across all sites and organisations linked to the programme.

Provide a rapid, solution driven response in support of crisis situations, both when on duty.

Process referrals, correctly assessing the welfare needs of service users with unfaltering professionalism, compassion and sensitivity

The GSTT Armed Forces Programme was established in 2021 to champion the Armed Forces Covenant commitment made by the UK government to support the Armed forces Community. The team supports Welfare and Clinical pathways across the trust and wider London, linking Armed Forces supporting organisations with our patients and people for the optimal outcomes of support across the spectrum.
