Full Job Description
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Groundsperson who is looking for a new opportunity that provides plenty of variety and challenges within an educational environment. You will help deliver the school's aims and objectives by ensuring the provision of an efficient and effective site and facilities service, and a safe, pleasant environment for staff, students and visitors, which supports teaching and learning. Outside of peak periods the candidate will be required to help with basic repairs. Hours: 8.00am -16.15pm 5 days per week (to be agreed) all year round, 37.5 hours per week (2 unpaid breaks - 15 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes for lunch),
- Ensure the best possible visitor experience by ensuring all grounds, gardens and high-profile areas such as the main driveway, paths and car parks are unobstructed, clean and maintained to an excellent standard.
- Work closely with the Estates Team in accordance with the agreed programmes of planned maintenance and seasonal work.
- Provide efficient, high- quality, skilled maintenance for all grounds and gardens, managing all day-to-day aspects of the ground's presentation and cyclic maintenance. This includes preparation and upkeep of all outdoor sports pitches and courts.
- Arranging for contractors to carry out specialist, essential maintenance of the grounds, gardens, pitches and courts.
- Competent use of machinery as necessary including mowers, strimmer's, tractors and trailers, shredders, scarifiers, snow ploughs and other machinery and hired plant.
- Repair and maintenance of sports equipment such as goal posts, nets, sight screens, stumps, etc.
- Maintain the outdoor classroom and Mud run.
- Assisted by the Estate Assistants undertake regular cleaning out of animal enclosures (ducks and chickens)., Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
