Grounds Operative

We are working closely alongside a local authority in Swindon to assist with the appointment of a Grounds Operative on a 2-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration., As a Grounds Operative, you will be a vital member of the Enabling Services team, ensuring that the Kingsdown and Whitworth Road Cemeteries are maintained to the highest standards of dignity and presentation. This is a physically demanding role that requires working outdoors in all weather conditions. You will provide essential grounds maintenance and offer critical support to the burial team, ensuring a respectful environment for visitors and bereaved families., Execute high-quality landscaping tasks including grass cutting, hedge trimming, and border maintenance using pedestrian mowers, ride-on mowers, and strimmers.
Ensure the cemeteries remain tidy by removing litter, clearing leaves, and maintaining paths and memorial areas using various hand tools.
Assist the existing team with the preparation and backfilling of graves, as well as the setup and breakdown of equipment required for funeral services.
Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations, particularly regarding manual handling and the use of power tools in public spaces.
Essentials

Proven experience in outdoor manual labour or a similar physical role.
Competency in operating petrol-powered machinery (mowers/strimmers) and a variety of manual garden tools.
A valid UK driving license is highly desirable for moving equipment between sites.
