Role: Grounds Maintenance Operative
Location: NRS (Magnox) Harwell
Reporting To: Technical & Maintenance Manager

Job Overview:
As a Grounds Maintenance Operative, you will maintain the grounds to a high standard, ensuring customer satisfaction through efficient service and adherence to Health & Safety procedures. Your role includes grass cutting, hedge trimming, leaf clearance, litter picking, and more, while operating machinery safely and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

The role involves performing grounds maintenance tasks such as grass cutting, hedge trimming, gritting, and litter picking, ensuring cleanliness and tidiness after completing each task. The candidate will address customer requests and queries promptly, operate vehicles and machinery in adherence to Health & Safety guidelines, and report any site issues to the Technical & Maintenance Manager. They will also ensure the grounds maintenance yard is kept clean and safe, drive company vehicles, and report maintenance issues as required. Additionally, the role includes assisting with other tasks as directed by the Mitie Management team.

Person Specification:

The ideal candidate will have a passion for horticulture and gardening, along with strong communication and customer service skills. They should be able to work independently or as part of a team, with a solid understanding of Health & Safety practices and safe working methods. Flexibility to perform tasks beyond their main trade is essential. A UK driving license and experience in grounds maintenance are required, along with familiarity with ride-on mowers, tractors, and gritting. A PA1 & PA6 spraying license is desirable, as well as a chainsaw license and knowledge of PPMs. A basic understanding of mobile technology for work recording is also important, and the candidate must be willing to undergo BPSS security clearance.
