Full Job Description
- Determine the Pathway to Power: Know the system connection process for target markets, the responsible parties and the technical criteria for meeting new site needs. This includes a general understanding of system upgrade processes, power redundancy practices, system voltages and components necessary to delivery power.
- Commercial Negotiation & Translation: Lead the negotiation of grid connection agreements (ESAs) with European TSOs and DSOs. You will translate these complex utility contracts and grid constraints into clear operational and commercial realities for IMDC projects and our end customers. This includes validating the technical aspects of power design and delivery to the site, including upstream system resources.
- Process Orchestration: Own the master timeline for power delivery. You will dictate "who does what and when," ensuring that local Project Managers for new and existing data center locations hit critical verification, submission, and operational milestones at exactly the right moment.
- Contract Lifecycle Management: Deeply understand the ongoing requirements of our grid access contracts. You will manage the lifetime of the contract, ensuring we meet utilization thresholds, mitigate commercial risk, and maintain compliance long after the initial agreement is signed.
- Cross-Functional & 3rd Party Leadership: Act as the central node between our external technical consultants, utilities, sales teams, and construction teams. You will ensure technical data is seamlessly handed off and applied to the commercial strategy.
- Risk & Timeline Alignment: Actively monitor utility requirements against reality. You will track critical thresholds (such as underutilization clauses or customer ramp-up timelines) to ensure our capacity commitments align with actual customer deployment.
Technical Understanding: Knowledge of electrical system components and voltages sufficient to ensure contracts deliver power aligned to the needs of our new facilities. - Commercial & Operational Rigor: You are a meticulous process manager and a strong commercial negotiator. You know how to hold cross-functional teams and external utilities accountable to strict timelines.
- Cross-Functional Teamwork: You are highly comfortable and effective at working across different teams. You build solid relationships naturally and can bridge the communication gaps between technical engineers, commercial sales teams, and external utility partners.
- Industry & Utility Expertise: Demonstrable experience in energy procurement, utility relations, or infrastructure project management for energy-intensive consumers. You must have a track record of negotiating directly with European TSOs and DSOs.
- Contractual Fluency: You must be able to read a complex grid connection contract and immediately understand what it means for the project's construction timeline and the customer's ramp-up schedule.
- Location: Must be based in the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom, or Spain.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in business, electrical engineering, project management, or an energy-related discipline.
- Pan-European Presence: Willingness and ability to travel as needed to active project sites and utility offices across Europe to ensure critical infrastructure milestones are met and local relationships are maintained.
