Greenspace Tree Officer

Are you an experienced Arboriculture professional looking for an opportunity to help shape and maintain green spaces across the North West? Join HMS as a Greenspace Tree Officer and play a key role in ensuring our tree stock is safe, well managed and maintained to the highest standards, while helping to deliver excellent services for our communities.

What You'll Be Doing:

- Carry out tree asset and condition surveys, ensuring tree stock is safe, well maintained and accurately recorded

- Assess trees and prescribe appropriate arboricultural management actions

- Produce work instructions for specialist contractors and in-house arboricultural teams

- Assist with monitoring tree work contracts, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standard

- Support the planning and coordination of both programmed and reactive tree works

- Issue work orders to contractors and in-house teams

- Maintain accurate electronic records and survey data, ensuring compliance with data protection requirements

- Carry out periodic Health & Safety inspections and checks to ensure best practice is followed

- Provide arboricultural advice and guidance to managers, supervisors, colleagues and members of the public

- Respond professionally to customer enquiries and support the delivery of excellent customer service

- Assist with emergency responses involving dangerous or threatened trees, including participation in out-of-hours services when required

- Work collaboratively with colleagues and contractors to deliver efficient, value for money services

- Support continuous improvement initiatives and quality management practices

- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies and safe systems of work

Minimum Level 3 Professional Diploma in Arboriculture (or equivalent arboricultural qualification) - you will be required to provide proof of qualifications if invited to interview

- Relevant qualification in Tree Survey and Inspection

- Full UK driving licence

- Experience carrying out tree assessments and inspections

- Knowledge of arboricultural management practices and principles

- Experience advising customers, stakeholders or members of the public on arboricultural matters

- Sound understanding of Health & Safety legislation relating to arboricultural operations

- Experience using GIS systems and/or IT systems for recording tree survey data

- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workloads effectively

- Flexible approach and ability to adapt to changing priorities

- Excellent communication skills and ability to build positive working relationships

- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, Each successful applicant will be required to complete the following pre-employment checks prior to a start date being agreed:
