Full Job Description
We are looking for a proactive and customer-focused Greenspace Activation Ranger to join the team at Colwick Country Park - a unique 250-acre site combining a busy public park, fishing lakes and an active marina. This is a varied, hands-on role with a strong focus on supporting the day-to-day operation of the marina, alongside wider duties across the park. You will play a key part in ensuring both the marina and park are safe, welcoming and well presented for visitors, customers and the local community. As a visible on-site presence, you will engage with a wide range of park users - from boat owners and anglers to families and event visitors - providing information, support and a high standard of customer service. Primary day-to-day duties will include assisting with marina operations such as maintaining pontoons and facilities, supporting bookings and records, and helping ensure compliance with site rules and safety standards. Alongside this, when required, you will carry out routine maintenance across the park, including grounds work, litter management, inspections and minor repairs. You will also support the delivery of events and activities, contribute to volunteer sessions, and assist with fishing bailiff duties where required. The role requires someone who is comfortable working outdoors in all conditions, confident dealing with the public, and able to respond to issues in a calm and professional manner. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a practical role with real variety, working across both a vibrant marina environment and a valued local wildlife site.
The ideal candidate will have: · A full UK driving licence and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including evenings and weekends on a rota basis. · Experience of working in parks, green spaces or a similar environment, including the use of grounds maintenance equipment such as strimmers and mowers. · Good knowledge of customer care and the ability to deal confidently and professionally with a wide range of park users and marina customers. · Strong communication skills, with the ability to resolve issues calmly, work as part of a team, and engage positively with the public and volunteers. · Practical skills and a hands-on approach, with the ability to carry out maintenance tasks, safety checks, and marina-related duties, including working around water (boat handling experience desirable).
