Full Job Description

"South Tyneside is a fantastic place to be; with passionate people who really care about each other, great partnership working as part of our South Tyneside Alliance, amazing services and a real sense of community spirit." If you are looking for a role where you can make a genuine difference to people's lives every day, then this could be the opportunity for you. We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised and customer-focused Grants Officer to join our Disability Housing Team within Adult Social Care. This is a rewarding and varied role, helping disabled people and their families access adaptations that enable them to remain safe, independent and comfortable in their own homes. You will be responsible for the administration and delivery of Disabled Facilities Grants and related housing adaptation projects. Why Join Us? Every adaptation tells a story. Whether it's a level access shower that restores dignity, a ramp that provides freedom to leave the house independently, or a home extension that enables someone to remain with their family, your work will have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of South Tyneside residents. As a Grants Officer, you will manage Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) applications from referral through to completion, working closely with Occupational Therapists, residents, contractors, architects, housing colleagues and partner organisations to turn recommendations into practical solutions. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys problem-solving, partnership working and seeing projects through from start to finish. We are looking for someone who is passionate about helping people live independently and who can build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. What We Offer In return, South Tyneside Council offers:

  • The opportunity to transform lives through practical solutions that support independence.
  • A varied and rewarding role.
  • Flexible and supportive working arrangements.
  • A comprehensive induction and ongoing professional development.

If you want a career where you can combine project management, customer service, partnership working and problem-solving while helping people remain independent in the homes they love, we would love to hear from you. Join us and help shape a more accessible South Tyneside.
