Full Job Description
This post supports a time-limited pilot being undertaken by the Dudley Health and Care Partnership. The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust is acting as the host employer on behalf of the Partnership. The pilot is fixed term until 31 March 2027 and will require flexibility, pace and active partnership working as the model is mobilised, tested and evaluated.
The GP Clinical Lead will provide clinical leadership, oversight and strategic advice to support delivery of the Dudley Enhanced Work and Health Service Fit Note Reform Pilot. This is a sessional, fixed-term pilot role until 31 March 2027, hosted through The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust on behalf of the Dudley Health and Care Partnership. The post holder will work alongside the Vocational Specialist / Pilot Lead and partner organisations to ensure the pilot is clinically robust, evidence-based and aligned to primary care priorities. The Clinical Lead will support pathway design, service development, governance, evaluation and stakeholder engagement, ensuring the pilot delivers improved outcomes for patients and supports the wider ambitions of fit note reform.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Leadership
o Provide clinical leadership and professional oversight to the pilot.
o Act as a senior clinical adviser to the multidisciplinary team.
o Promote best practice in work and health interventions and fit note reform.
o Support management of clinical risks and governance issues.
Pathway Development
o Provide clinical input into referral pathways, operating procedures and service protocols.
o Ensure pathways align with primary care workflows and national policy requirements.
o Support development of clinical escalation and risk management processes.
o Review emerging evidence and support implementation of best practice.
Stakeholder Engagement
o Engage with GP practices, PCNs and wider clinical stakeholders to promote participation in the pilot.
o Act as a clinical ambassador for the programme.
o Support communication and engagement activities with participating practices.
Evaluation and Outcomes
o Support identification of key clinical outcomes and measures.
o Provide clinical interpretation of pilot data and performance information.
o Contribute to evaluation reports and recommendations.
o Support dissemination of learning and future service development opportunities.
Strategic Advice
o Advise on future opportunities for scaling and sustaining the service.
o Support alignment with wider primary care, prevention and workforce priorities.
o Contribute to strategic discussions regarding fit note reform and work and health programmes.
