Full Job Description
We are seeking to recruit a Clerk to Governors to provide advice and guidance to the Governing Body on governance, constitutional and procedural matters. You will provide effective administrative support to the Governing Body and its committees, ensuring the Governing Body is properly constituted, and information is effectively managed in accordance with legal requirements. This role involves working closely with the Chair of Governors and the Headteacher.
The successful candidate will be flexible, motivated and well-organised. You will be responsible for drafting agendas; producing accurate minutes of meetings; maintaining information on membership and advising the governing body on procedural and legislative matters. You must be competent and confident in the use of IT. Regular use of email, online governor information sites and governor support services will be necessary. All Governing Body documents are accessed via Microsoft Teams. The ability to work independently and to be proactive would be appreciated.
Hours of work: You will be paid on a monthly basis equivalent to 7 hours per week during term time. This will cover time for preparation and attendance at calendared full governor meetings and committee meetings throughout the year although not every week. Time also included for writing up minutes and liaising with governors by phone or email and attendance on any workshops or training. Most meetings take place on Thursdays during term-time, starting at 4:30pm or 5:00pm.
You should have an interest in education, be tactful and able to deal with matters confidentially. You should be reliable and have a good sense of humour. Experience of governance either in a school or another setting would be desirable but not essential as training and access to regular updates will be provided.
