Full Job Description
As Director, Global Environment Strategy, you'll develop and implement IHG's global environmental sustainability strategy across carbon & energy, waste and water. It's about helping the business focus on the issues and metrics that offer business value alongside positive environmental impact, and deciding where IHG should focus its environmental efforts globally. Based in our global HQ in Windsor. Your day-to-day You'll work across IHG and with external environmental partners as IHG's global environmental sustainability subject matter expert, leading a team that includes the Senior Manager, Decarbonisation Delivery and Global Environment Manager (Water & Waste).
- Set and maintain global strategies, targets and metrics.
- Own the Group Environmental Sustainability Plan, turning long-term ambitions into clear medium and short-term priorities.
- Lead IHG's global energy and carbon reduction agenda, including energy efficiency, Science Based Targets, Low Carbon Pioneers and relevant LTIP targets.
- Lead environmental reporting across voluntary and regulatory frameworks, including CDP and CSRD. The role also leads IHG's environmental innovation agenda, helping the business prepare for emerging issues including biodiversity, nature and embodied carbon. Relationships with global environmental NGO partners sit with you, along with support for engagement with IHG Owners' Associations and technical environmental input for owners, hotels, corporate colleagues, guests and shareholders. You'll also own budgets for strategic carbon, waste and water initiatives.
- Bring strong expertise across carbon, energy, water and waste, including carbon accounting and Science Based Targets.
- Draw strategic, commercially useful insight from large and complex datasets.
- Build environmental sustainability strategies and business cases, and turn long-term plans into practical delivery.
- Explain complex technical subjects clearly and influence senior colleagues across a global organisation.
We're looking for significant environmental sustainability experience with an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience, and the technical depth to shape strategy and take ownership of its implementation within a global organisation.
