Full Job Description
The role is based in our Sittingbourne office, Kent, working in a small team in our Geo-environmental Service Line serving various client types predominantly across the South of England. The work involves a mix of office, site and remote working. Responsibilities:
- Undertaking Phase 1 and Phase 2 geo-environmental site investigations.
- Preparation of factual and interpretative geo-environmental and contaminated land reports including Desk Studies, Phase II Site Investigations as well as remediation strategies and verification reports.
- Soil, water and gas sampling and monitoring.
- Supervise and lead on projects where required, co-ordinating all aspects of the project to assist the Project Manager.
- Carrying out on site works required for projects including (but not limited to) supervision of contractors, drilling, trial pitting, on site testing, sampling, logging.
- Preparation of Health & Safety documentation in relation to site works.
- Data assessment.
- Preparation of cost proposals and tender works.
- Excellent communication (inc client and regulator), organisation and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and numerical skills including report writing data interpretation, including the use of Microsoft Word and Excel and where applicable specific software which may include but is not limited to Holebase (logging software), AutoCAD, surfer etc.
- Demonstrable site work competency including an appreciation of Health & Safety procedure, guidance and requirements.
- Organise own time and resources, assist with mentoring of junior staff
- Meet deadlines set by Project Managers, organise own time and work effectively within a team.
- Take ownership of tasks and assist with co-ordination of project deliverables.
- Assist in the production of proposals and tenders.
- Continue to develop CPD, keep up to date with relevant guidance.
- Help maintain scientific equipment and other project related equipment, keeping areas of work clear and tidy.
Qualified to degree level in an environment/land related subject. - 3+ years experience in geo-environmental work.
- The ability to manage and deliver multiple projects running concurrently including
- meeting tight deadlines and financial budgets.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Review technical reports written by others and give constructive criticism.
- Have a very good understanding of relevant guidance and publications.
- Good literacy and reporting skills, a flexible attitude to work, and possess the enthusiasm and drive to deliver the requirements of this role.
- The ability to work as an effective member of a team and on your own initiative will be essential, along with excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- The job will require a willingness to travel across the UK and work away, with long hours on site where required.
- Full UK/EC driving licence is essential.
