I'm a 13-year-old girl who loves having fun, chatting, and being creative. I use my AAC device and Makaton to communicate, and while it sometimes takes a little extra time to understand things, I can make my needs and wants known. I have a chromosome disorder, a learning disability, and I am autistic with sensory processing needs. I don't like sudden loud noises or unpredictable situations, so I need someone who can help me feel calm, safe and happy.

I love drawing, painting, and doing all kinds of arts and crafts. I also enjoy reading books, using my tablet, watching TV, and listening to music - especially when I can make up stories or sing along! Sometimes I like to go out in my wheelchair to visit the library or have a look around the shops, as long as they're not too crowded or noisy. I have a great sense of humour and love having company. I also have some medical needs which mean that my health can sometimes change, so I need someone who can be understanding and adaptable.

The role will mainly be spent engaging with me at home - doing arts and crafts, singing songs, playing, and chatting together. The job will also involve some personal care, so we are looking for a female applicant only. (This role is exempt under the general occupational requirement section of the Equality Act 2010.) Once you get to know me, there may be opportunities to take me out and about. Training such as gastrostomy feeding and first aid will be provided to support this.

We are looking for someone who is gentle, patient, and calm - but who also enjoys having fun and doesn't mind being a bit silly sometimes! You'll need to be sensitive and able to recognise when I need things to be quieter or more relaxed. Experience of working with children who are autistic or have learning disabilities, medical or sensory needs would be an advantage, but it's not essential - the most important thing is that you are kind, caring, and willing to learn.
