Full Job Description
The candidate will be expected to integrate within and work alongside the team of existing consultants in the General Surgery departments, as well as work within multidisciplinary teams including healthcare professionals. The candidate will be responsible for the oversight and delivery of day-to-day General Surgery services. These include daily ward rounds, review of inpatient referrals, outpatient clinics and theatre lists under the supervision of the General Surgery Consultants., This post is not an approved postgraduate training programme under the auspices of Health Education England (HEE). However, post-holders can be supported with aspirations for both CESR qualification and FRCS examination on request., To provide general, endocrine and vascular surgical support when on-call. The role will be working with the Upper GI Surgery Service which includes all aspects of treatment and relevant management duties for the proper functioning of the department. Responsible for covering colleagues periods of annual leave and short-term sickness. The post holder has an important responsibility for and contribution to make to infection control and must be familiar with the infection control and hygiene requirements of this role. These requirements are set out in the National Code of Practice on Infection Control and in local policies and procedures which will be made clear during your induction and subsequent refresher training. Essential criteria for the post include full GMC registration, MRCS qualification and previous experience of working within the NHS. This does not include clinical attachments. Applicants without these criteria will not be considered and need not apply. Previous experience in General Surgery and working at middle-grade level are desirable., Essential

Croydon University Hospital (CUH) plans to appoint a Upper GI Surgery Registrar in General Surgery. This post is a middle-grade fixed term position for an initial period of 12 months.
