Full Job Description
The post holder will provide high-quality, person-centred general medical services for people detained at Yarl's Wood Immigration Removal Centre (IRC). Working as part of an interdependent health and wellbeing team, the GP will assess and manage acute illness, long-term conditions, complex physical and mental health needs, medicines and clinical risk. Care must be trauma-informed, culturally responsive and accessible to people who may have experienced displacement, torture, trafficking, abuse or significant health inequality, Provide timely, evidence-based assessment, diagnosis, investigation, treatment, follow-up and referral for people detained at the IRC, including urgent presentations, long-term conditions and complex multimorbidity.
Undertake face-to-face consultations and, where clinically appropriate and authorised, remote consultations; make safe decisions about when examination, urgent transfer or emergency care is required.
Contribute to reception, initial and ongoing health assessment arrangements, prioritising care according to clinical need and ensuring appropriate follow-up of identified risks.
