Full Job Description

Overview Our well respected and renouned Healthcare establishment provides urgent medical advice and assessment to all patients living in the Warwickshire area when normal primary care is closed. Operating between 6:30pm to 8am weekdays and 24 hours across weekends and bank holidays, the service provides advice and treatment for patients that have either called 111 or have entered the service through other means and require urgent primary care management. The service is provided by a multi-disciplinary team that includes GPs, Nurse and Paramedic practitioners, administrative and operational colleagues, all working together to provide clinical care from 3 main bases in Coventry, Rugby and Nuneaton, offering sessions over the telephone or home visits, but to highlight this is not a remote position. Duties The service is now seeking to recruit GPs to join their workforce in the GP OOH service. The current vacant shifts are predominantly face to face and available in the evening and overnight period 7 days a week - priority will be given to GPs who can commit to working face to face shifts during the evenings and overnights. If you are an interested GP and are seeking daytime shifts across the week or only telephone triage work, please be aware that availability of these shifts is limited but still available. Job responsibilities We are keen to recruit GPs to our team that are at any stage of their career and can work any number of hours up to full time on a contract basis. This may be colleagues who have recently completed GP training or GPs that are further along in their career and wish to develop their portfolio career or are simply looking for a new challenge. We can offer an individually tailored induction programme to help you settle into your role followed by ongoing professional support from case review and peer feedback, all of which is designed to help you become an experienced and skilled OOH clinician. Generally, the role requires similar skills to those of an in-hours GP although the following additional skills are desirable but not essential (as support and learning opportunities can be provided) Experience in palliative care and use of controlled drugs Catheter Management Person Specification Registration
