Full Job Description
St Lawrence Road Surgery is seeking a friendly, organised, and professional GP Receptionist to join our team. As a key member of the practice, you will be the first point of contact for patients, providing a high standard of customer service both face-to-face and over the phone. Your responsibilities will include managing appointment bookings, handling patient enquiries, updating records, processing prescriptions, and supporting the clinical team with day to day administrative tasks. You will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the surgery and delivering excellent patient care in line with DCHS values. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm and professional in a busy healthcare environment. Experience in a receptionist or administrative role, particularly within the NHS, is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided. As an employer and sponsor licence holder, to be able to provide sponsorship to overseas nationals via the Skilled Worker route we must ensure that we adhere to the sponsorship requirements set by UK Visa's and Immigration. - Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
- Answer telephone calls and respond to patient enquiries
- Book, amend, and cancel appointments using SystmOne
- Process repeat prescription requests accurately and efficiently
- Maintain and update patient records and documentation
- Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence
- Support the clinical team with administrative tasks as required
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to data protection policies
- Assist in the smooth running of the surgery and contribute to a positive patient experience DCHS provides community health services to a patient population of over one million people in Derbyshire and Derby, as part of Joined Up Care Derbyshire. We employ around 4,200 substantive staff, caring for patients in 11 community hospitals and more than 30 health centres, as well as in clinics, GP practices, schools, care homes and, increasingly, in people's own homes and via virtual consultations.
