Full Job Description
1. To be a member of the teaching team in the college and liaise with the centre coordinator on all matters relating to the work of the centre
2. To participate in, and contribute to, the co-ordination of all aspects of the smooth daily running of the centre.
3. Ensure that the curriculum delivery and content are Autism specific and address the individual needs of the learners.
4. Develop an effective working knowledge of the Education, Health and Care Plan and ensure that it is used to inform planning of sessions.
5. Maintain all necessary educational systems as detailed in the ESPA Learning Journey e.g session plans, schemes of work, records of Learning etc.
6. Monitor and develop the curriculum through regular assessment and evaluation of students learning e.g. (initial/formative/summative assessment)
7. Ensure that Literacy, Numeracy & ICT are effectively embedded throughout the curriculum area where appropriate
8. Develop a working knowledge of Equality & Diversity.
9. Provide subject reports, detailing student progress & achievements, for both internal reviews and external bodies e.g. Local Authorities.
10. Develop a working knowledge of RARPA and ESPA's policy on non-accredited learning and ensure that Databridge and/or other recording systems are regularly updated.
11. Write reports for and attend student reviews.
12. Carry out extra responsibilities within the College site appropriate to grade e.g. risk assessments.
13. To implement policy as laid down by the ESPA Board and College Principal.
14. To be responsible for aspects of administration, organisation and management of any particular areas as required by the centre coordinator, including taking the lead in programme and curriculum development and/or pastoral care where appropriate/required.
15. To attend appropriate committees, team meetings and other meetings.
16. To be aware of and comply with the College's policies in all aspects of her/his duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to Equal Opportunities and Diversity, Adult/Child Protection, Health & Safety and Driving of College Vehicles.
17. To respect the confidentiality of matters relating to students and other members of staff. The post holder must be aware of and comply with the requirements of GDPR.
Detailed duties
1. To deliver planned, coordinated and high-quality teaching and learning sessions.
2. To provide, as necessary, student records, course schemes and records of work and student grades. Ensure students' progress is properly monitored, assessed and recorded in line with the College's Central Verification Process. Report on the progress of students through subject reviews and regular target monitoring and updates.. Inform parents sponsors/or other parties through the report processes.
3. Be responsible for the preparation of learning materials, assessment and assignment programmes to ensure that a high quality of delivery is provided for all learners.
4. Contribute to the administration of learning programmes and assist the centre coordinator as required. Where appropriate to organise, structure and manage the students' learning experience on a programme of learning.
5. To participate in the recruitment and assessment of students.
6. To assist with arrangements for the placement and assessment of students at work placement locations if required.
7. To take a lead on pastoral duties as directed by the centre coordinator
8. Contribute to enrichment programmes as appropriate
9. Carry out administrative duties associated with teaching as required.
10. Liaise with partner schools, FE colleges and outside agencies/organisations.
11. Take part in marketing activities as required (e.g. Open Evenings).
12. Participate in research and other forms of scholarly activity as agreed with the centre coordinator
13. Keep up to date with developments in relevant subject area(s) and actively participate in continuous professional development.
14. Take part in internal/external assessment and verification as required by Awarding Bodies and the Central Verification Process, and take responsibility for examination entries for a subject area as necessary.
15. Attend/hold regular course/subject meetings with minutes/action points.
16. Exercise other responsibilities and duties as may reasonably be required from time to time by line manager.
