Full Job Description
We are seeking a talented Functional Analyst to support the University's ongoing Student Payment Project, and the recently-launched Cambridge Student Payment Service (CSPS), from within the new Data & Digital Services team in Education Services.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the ongoing success of a new and vital service built through a collaboration of teams across the University which practically supports thousands of students and meaningfully contributes to the modernisation of the University's digital infrastructure. The CSPS replaces several previous systems and processes with a single, simple payments service delivered through the University's student records system (CamSIS) providing an improved overall experience for both students and staff.
The Student Payment Project has this academic year completed its first phase, with all departments using the CSPS to pay study-related maintenance awards and (optionally) student expense payments. The Project has now entered its continuous improvement phase: amongst other key work, the Project will be enhancing reporting functionality and developing an end-to-end self-service student expenses workflow.
In this role, you will be expected to contribute substantially to the overall success of the Student Payments Project by fulfilling the duties of a functional analyst as required: including providing business analysis; requirement scoping and definition; project, problem and incident management; providing specialist advice and customer support; and other duties outlined in the Further Particulars.
You'll bring strong analytical and technical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work independently while building and maintaining effective relationships across teams in a multi-stakeholder environment. You will have prior experience working as a systems expert, functional analyst or similar within a complex organisational context. Due to the duration of the fixed-term contract available, the ability to begin working productively on the project immediately with a very brief induction period is essential - experience of working on University of Cambridge IT project, especially a CamSIS development project or similar, would therefore be a distinct advantage.
Additional information regarding the role can be found within the Further Particulars. When applying, please upload your CV and cover letter which clearly sets out how you meet the criteria listed in the person specification of the Further Particulars (the knowledge, skills, and experience required for the role) along with relevant examples. Candidates will be shortlisted and invited to interview based upon these criteria.
