Full Job Description

Part-time (0.5), fixed term of one year in the first instance A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a recent languages graduate to gain experience of school life working in our outstanding languages department. King Alfred is a forward thinking, progressive and innovative School and any successful candidate would share these attributes. Reports to: Head of Modern Foreign Languages Responsibilities: Duties will include:

  • Helping devise material for conversation classes.
  • Working with individuals or small groups as specified by the relevant language teacher.
  • Assisting class teachers in preparing A Level students for their oral examinations
  • Participating in the co-curricular life of the department, and potentially beyond.
  • Person Specification: In order to fill this role effectively, the ideal candidate will have the following skills and experiences:
  • Fluency in both French and Spanish to A Level standard.
  • The successful candidate should have energy and enthusiasm, an affinity for young people and broad cultural awareness. A familiarity with the requirements of the AQA A Level assessment criteria would be an advantage, but is not essential. They will be passionate about languages and be able to inspire and motivate our pupils.
