Full Job Description
RESPONSIBLE TO: Head of Centre and Management Committee Job Purpose: The primary responsibility of this role is to fulfil the professional duties of a teacher in accordance with the Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document, the Professional Standards for Teaching and Leadership in Wales, the Curriculum for Wales, and the Additional Learning Needs and Education Tribunal (Wales) Act 2018. The post holder will deliver high-quality, inclusive provision for pupils aged 3-7 in line with Foundation Phase pedagogy and Curriculum for Wales principles, supporting learners with Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD) and Additional Learning Needs (ALN). The role requires a strong focus on wellbeing, engagement, progression and relationships within a PRU context. The post holder may also work flexibly with learners across the wider 3-16 age range, as required to meet service needs. This role contributes directly to Ty Dysgu's commitment to enabling all learners to progress towards the four purposes of the Curriculum for Wales, becoming:

- Healthy, confident individuals Principal Responsibilities and Activities: The Foundation Phase Teacher will support pupils referred to Ty Dysgu due to complex needs that have impacted engagement and progress in mainstream education. The role involves working collaboratively with pupils, families, schools and agencies to support successful reintegration where appropriate. A comprehensive learner profile will be developed for each pupil, drawing on baseline assessment, observation and learner voice to inform provision and next steps. Under the guidance of the Senior Leadership Team, the post holder will:
- Design, implement and review enabling learning environments that promote curiosity, independence, wellbeing and engagement
- Plan and deliver learning experiences aligned to the six Areas of Learning and Experience (AoLEs), appropriate to learners' developmental stages
- Use formative assessment and professional judgement to support progression, rather than attainment against age-related expectations
- Set and review individual targets that support academic learning, wellbeing and social development
- Lead and support classroom staff to deliver consistent, high-quality provision
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation through trauma-informed, restorative and relational approaches
- Work in partnership with parents/carers and professionals to support learner progress and wellbeing
