Full Job Description
The Trust reserves the right to close this vacancy early should a significant number of applications be received. Applicants are therefore encouraged to submit their applications as soon as possible. Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is pleased to announce the development and introduction of these new, innovative and exciting posts which have been designed primarily for trainees who are looking to take a 12-month break from their training after successfully completing their FY2 placements. We envisage these roles as being an ideal stepping stone for trainees between their FY2 and Specialty training posts and offer opportunities to applicants to develop skills and experience in other areas such as medical education, quality/service improvement and medical leadership. The posts will encompass both service delivery and educational input across medical specialties within the Division of Medicine. These posts are not recognised UK training posts. However, the post-holders will have a named
supervisor and be supported in undertaking a wide range of CV enhancing activities as part of their role as well as taking part in scheduled educational opportunities within the Trust and specialties., From a clinical perspective, these posts will participate in the cross-site resident trainee rota. The resident trainee rota is compliant with the 2016 resident doctor contract, averaging 48 hours per week, and includes on-call commitments across a 7-day service, incorporating night shifts and long days. Duties will be based at either our Pinderfields or Dewsbury Hospital site, although all our medical staff are involved in delivering care to patients across all our sites. These roles will enable the post holder to take supervised responsibility for patient care and consolidate the skills they have learned at medical school. As the post holder gains experience, they will remain under clinical supervision but take on increasing responsibility for patient care. In particular, they will begin to make management decisions as part of their progression toward independent practice. During their tenure, the post holder will further develop their core generic skills and contribute more to the
education and training of the wider healthcare workforce. By the end of their tenure, the post holder will have begun to demonstrate clinical effectiveness, leadership, and the decision-making capabilities essential for the next stage of their career.
