Full Job Description
St Dunstan's College is seeking to recruit an outstanding Junior School Form Teacher, with a track record of excellent teaching in all subjects. A decision is still being made as to whether the position will be in Key Stage 1 or 2 so candidates are encouraged to apply if they would be happy teaching in either section of the school. This position is suitable for an enthusiastic and reflective candidate who is keen to work within a supportive, creative and committed Junior School team. The successful candidate will participate fully in the forward-thinking and ambitious life of the College, taking responsibility for the education and wellbeing of all pupils within their class.
This is a full-time maternity cover teaching post required from September 2026. The successful candidate will take responsibility for teaching English, mathematics and International Primary Curriculum lessons within their class and additional teaching allocation will be dependent on skills and subject specialism. A Form Teacher at St Dunstan's is expected to embrace fully the ethos and values of the College and to play a proactive role in the academic, pastoral and co-curricular life of the Junior School. Central to the role is a clear commitment to the College vision of seeking to inspire and support every young person to fulfil their potential. The Form Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning within their class, while providing strong pastoral care and guidance to ensure that pupils feel supported, challenged and known as individuals.
Working collaboratively with the Head of Junior School, Deputy Heads, designated Section Head and colleagues across the Junior School, the Form Teacher will contribute positively to a culture of ambition, high expectations and continuous improvement, ensuring that all pupils benefit from a stimulating, nurturing and well-rounded educational experience

St Dunstan's Education Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post. As this role involves 'regulated activity' with children the successful applicant will be required to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosure application. Employment will be conditional upon St Dunstan's Education Group being satisfied with the result of the Enhanced DBS check and the outcome of all other checks.
St Dunstan's Education Group will also carry out a check of the Children's Barred List on the successful applicant. Applicants should be aware that it is unlawful for St Dunstan's Education Group to employ anyone to work with children if they are barred from doing so, and it is a criminal offence for a person to apply to work with children if they are barred from doing so.
This role is also exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and St Dunstan's Education Group is therefore permitted to ask shortlisted applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are 'spent' unless they are 'protected' under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
