Forests & Rights Senior Campaigner

The post holder will lead selected areas of RFUK's campaigning on climate, forests and community rights across the Congo Basin, with a particular focus on the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Together with local partners, forest communities and other allies, they will develop and implement campaigns to address escalating threats posed by logging and extractive industries, associated infrastructure development, and the rapid expansion of carbon market projects. The role will also involve managing funded projects within areas of responsibility, ensuring their effective delivery and impact, and providing support to partners in campaigning and project implementation., Please note we're not responsible for the content of job ads, as they're posted by the recruiter. • You are a strategic, collaborative and values-driven campaigner with a deep commitment to social justice, environmental protection and the rights of Indigenous Peoples and forest communities. You bring strong experience in policy, advocacy or campaigning, ideally in an NGO, charity or action-research setting, and are confident developing and delivering impactful campaigns particularly in Africa.
• Fluent in English and French, you are an excellent communicator who can translate complex issues into compelling advocacy, media and public-facing materials, while building strong relationships with partners, communities, coalitions, donors and decision-makers.
• You are comfortable managing projects and budgets, supporting local partners, working across multinational teams and travelling regularly within the Congo Basin and internationally to help advance lasting change

Since 1989, RFUK has partnered with forest peoples and grassroots organisations to secure land rights, challenge destructive industries, and influence laws and policies that safeguard forests and the people who depend on them., This role may be based in London on a hybrid basis, or undertaken remotely from France or the Democratic Republic of Congo, with hybrid working possible where appropriate. Candidates must already have the right to work in one of these locations. Please note that RFUK is unable to cover relocation costs.
