Forensic Inpatient Consultant

The service provides opportunity for a patient pathway through services for male patients who have been identified with major and complex mental health needs requiring treatment in a low secure environment. Referrals are received countywide from acute psychiatric services, community mental health teams and other secure services/prisons throughout the country. The client demographic is adult males 18 - 65 and will include people who are subject to Part 3 of the Mental Health Act, including Restricted patients. Wheatfield unit has a close working relationship with the adjacent ward, Meadowbank and PICU.,

• Provide clinical leadership to the team and take clinical responsibility for the assessment and treatment of patients as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team.
• Undertake clinical sessions at a prison and attend to all relevant matters there as a senior clinician and leader within that service.
