Full Job Description

We're looking for an experienced Food Service Assistant to join our busy catering team at the National Remembrance Gardens on a 9-month fixed-term contract. With a 380-seat restaurant, coffee shop, large-scale events and hospitality functions catering for up to 500 guests, this is a varied role where no two days are quite the same. From serving freshly prepared meals and barista-style coffees to supporting special events and functions, you'll be part of a team delivering a great food and drink experience across one of the UK's most distinctive visitor destinations. The National Remembrance Gardens is one of Staffordshire's most distinctive visitor attractions, welcoming people throughout the year to explore its beautiful grounds, discover its memorials and attend a wide range of events. With busy restaurants, cafés and event spaces, there's much more happening behind the scenes than you might expect, making it an exciting and varied place to work. Come and be part of the leading Armed Forces charity, making a difference to the lives of those who have served to keep us safe and protect our way of life. You'll be hands-on across our catering outlets, helping everything run smoothly from preparation through to service. Whether you're welcoming visitors, serving food and drinks, setting up for an event or keeping our dining areas looking their best, you'll take pride in getting the details right. We're looking for someone who enjoys a busy service, works well alongside colleagues and knows how important friendly, efficient service is to the overall visitor experience. You'll bring previous experience in catering, hospitality or food service, along with a good understanding of food hygiene and health and safety standards. You'll be confident dealing with customers, comfortable working at pace and happy to turn your hand to different tasks throughout the day. Flexibility to work weekends and occasional evenings is important, particularly when supporting events. If you enjoy the variety of hospitality but would like to work somewhere that offers much more than a traditional restaurant or café setting, we'd love to hear from you. Please note that this role will be based onsite at the National Remembrance Gardens, Burton-on-Trent DE13 7AR. The hours are 30 hours per week with working any 5 from 7, flexibility for this role is key.
