Your role:

This role presents an excellent opportunity to join Wigan Council's Flood Risk Team, providing residents with high quality information, advice, and support on flooding and water related matters.

With the increasing frequency of severe storm events and the growing impacts of climate change, the role offers the chance to engage with innovative technologies and forward thinking approaches to address emerging challenges.

You will become part of a small, collaborative team, reporting to the Flood Risk Engineer.

As the Flood Risk Technician, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a range of water management activities and work closely with partner organisations involved in flood risk management.

The ideal candidate will hold a HNC in Civil Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or an equivalent discipline, and will knowledge of the relevant legislation, regulations, and technical requirements associated with the Flood and Water Management Act.

You must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and in areas that may be challenging to access. A current, valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for site visits are essential., To be appointed to this role you must be able to prove your right to work in the UK, and you must maintain a valid (active) right to work. The Network Management Team provides essential front-line services to all highway users by ensuring the council's adopted highways and infrastructure is maintained to a high standard and congestion is minimised by means of effective Management.
