Fixed Term Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic Rehabilitation Medicine service delivering specialist care across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. Based primarily within the Rehabilitation Unit at Lincoln County Hospital, the post holder will play a key role in providing high-quality, patient-centred care for individuals with complex rehabilitation needs.

The successful candidate will manage patients within the specialist rehabilitation unit and deliver outpatient clinics in areas such as Spasticity Management, Acquired Brain Injury, and Neurological Rehabilitation. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, they will assess referrals from across the Trust and contribute to the development of seamless rehabilitation pathways.

The role also includes undertaking community and home visits to support patients throughout their rehabilitation journey, promoting effective discharge planning and ongoing care.

In addition, the post holder will contribute to the education, supervision, and development of junior medical staff, while actively participating in clinical governance, audit, service evaluation, and quality improvement initiatives. This is a varied and rewarding position that offers the opportunity to help shape and develop rehabilitation services across the Trust, making a meaningful impact on patient outcomes throughout the region.

Main duties of the job

Manage an independent clinical caseload, providing supervision, support and guidance to junior medical staff and members of the multidisciplinary team as appropriate.

Promote a culture of safety by ensuring the wellbeing of patients, colleagues and self, and supporting junior staff in meeting their patient safety and risk management responsibilities.

Work in line with Trust policies, procedures and professional standards, contributing to service development and the implementation of best practice.

Maintain high standards of professional practice, delivering safe, effective and patient-centred care.

Uphold confidentiality of all patient, staff and organisational information in accordance with Trust policies, GDPR and professional standards.

Treat patients, carers, service users and colleagues with dignity, compassion and respect, promoting personalised care and responding to individual needs.

Support the Trust's commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, and challenge inappropriate behaviour or poor practice where necessary.

Contribute to the care and management of inpatients within the specialist rehabilitation service.
