Full Job Description

  • A recognised apprenticeship (or equivalent experience) in fitting/turning or mechanical engineering
  • Strong, recent hands-on workshop experience
  • Skills across machining, fitting, milling, grinding
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Nice to have (but not essential):
  • Any experience coaching, mentoring or helping others learn
  • CAD knowledge
  • No teaching experience? Full-time role, 37.5 hours a week on a term time only basis HMS Sultan, Portsmouth Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.

  • Deliver hands-on workshop training in fitting, turning, milling and general engineering skills
  • Demonstrate techniques, guide trainees, and help them build confidence on the tools
  • Support learners working towards recognised engineering qualifications
  • Maintain workshop equipment and ensure safe working practices
  • Share your real-world experience to bring learning to life, Salary up to £42,000 (pro rata £41,265 term-time only)
  • Term-time working (45 weeks) - enjoy extended breaks at Christmas, Easter & summer - The salary is pro rata'd and calculated to include contractual annual leave entitlement and bank holidays.
