Fitter

This fitter will report to the field staff supervisor and will work within network operations based in our Norwich office. You will be a permanent employee in our UK Power Networks team.,

• Responsibility for all aspects of Safety, Health and Environment relevant to this role
• To perform risk assessments and maintain safe working practices
• Be able to operate hand held IT equipment to receive job instructions and record asset data information
• Maintain electrical plant and equipment from the low voltage network up to and including the 132kv volt network
• Undertake sub station inspections
• Report hazards and defects that they are unable to rectify through the appropriate reporting procedure
• Ensure quality of works meets with current policies and procedures
• Be an ambassador for UK Power Networks delivering excellent customer service
• Be able to work on their own or as part of a team.
Nature & Scope
• You will be expected to work as part of a team of fitters that report to a Field Staff Supervisor and have the support of experienced Field Engineers.
• The role is predominantly based in the Norwich Area. Although you may be required to travel anywhere within the UK Power Networks area., Managers and supervisors carry both legal and company responsibilities for ensuring the health and safety of their employees, those under their control and those who might be affected by the work undertaken, i.e. public, visitors and employees of other organisations. This includes briefing individuals working for them and ensuring there is the necessary understanding, competence and application of requirements to work safely and without harming the environment.
Employees will ensure they understand the health and safety risks involved in their work activities and their responsibility to apply the controls needed to manage those risks to acceptable levels. Similarly where work activities can have an adverse impact upon the environment, and where there are legal requirements, employees will understand those impacts and the controls they must ensure are applied. Employees need to be aware that for some craft and operational roles that work at height, or use fall arrest devices, there is an upper weight limit of 116Kg due to maximum safe working load of the safety equipment that is used.


• Hold a current driving licence.
• Have or be prepared to work towards a City & Guilds 2339 (formally 232) certificate in Electrical Power Distribution (or similar)
• Show experience of working on regional electricity networks and therefore have knowledge of the electrical distribution network would be an advantage but is not essential.
Desirable
• Able to travel to sites across Norfolk
• Previous DNO experience hightly desirable
• Ability to work on own initiative

  You will attract a salary of £41,031 plus company benefits and a bonus of 3%.
