Full Job Description

Review fire strategy documentation and provide clear, evidenced technical comments to the project team.
Assess fire detection, suppression and passive protection proposals against client specifications and relevant British and international standards.
Advise on fire risk for substation and converter buildings, including hazards from transformers and oil-filled plant.
Work with designers, suppliers and project stakeholders to close out comments and agree a compliant fire strategy.

Substantial fire engineering or fire systems experience, ideally within power, transmission or other critical infrastructure.
Experience reviewing or authoring fire strategies for substations, converter stations or comparable high-hazard facilities.
Familiarity with UK transmission network technical standards is highly desirable.
Working knowledge of standards such as BS 9999, BS 7974, BS 5839 and NFPA 850.
Membership of the Institution of Fire Engineers, or progress towards it, would be welcomed.
