Location: Ideally based close to major road links. There is no set location, as the role requires coverage across England, Wales and Scotland. It will require flexibility to undertake extensive travel and overnight stays Full-time: Monday to Friday Salary: ca. £44000 Make a difference by helping keep people safe At Leonard Cheshire, the safety and wellbeing of the people we support, and our colleagues, is at the heart of everything we do. This is a Health and Safety Lead role however focuses on Fire Safety responsibilities that provide specialist operational support across multiple locations. It's a hands-on role for someone who understands fire safety and emergency evacuation and can turn compliance requirements into practical, effective arrangements that work in real-life situations. The role With a focus on developing and maintaining high-quality Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs) youll review, develop and test emergency evacuation arrangements, ensuring they are safe,
effective, person-centred and compliant with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements and organisational standards. Activity also includes Visiting services to assess whether documented arrangements can be safely implemented Planning and delivering practical fire safety, evacuation training and drills, coaching and guidance Providing feedback and ensuring learning and actions are recorded and followed through Maintaining a central database of evacuation compliance, outstanding actions and concerns Reviewing incidents, near misses, and audits to identify trends and significant fire safety and evacuation risks escalating where necessary Recommending improvements to policies, procedures, training and operational practice Working collaboratively with Service Managers, Regional Directors, Operations, Compliance, Health & Safety, Quality, Clinical, Property & Estates, Fire Risk Assessors and Learning & Development colleagues About you Practical experience in fire safety, health &
safety, compliance, estates, care services or a similar operational environment is essential. In addition, youll Have experience developing or reviewing emergency evacuation plans and PEEPs Be confident in assessing and identifying recurring risks, and turning findings into practical action Have the ability to deliver training and guidance to managers and frontline teams Be comfortable constructively challenging unsafe or non-compliant practice Be organised, analytical and able to manage work independently across multiple locations Have experience in audits, inspections and compliance assessments Be a clear communicator who can make complex requirements easy to understand Be willing to travel extensively to our services Be passionate about keeping the people we support and our colleagues safe Desirable: NEBOSH Fire Safety, IOSH, Fire Marshal/Fire Warden or Train-the-Trainer qualifications, and experience in health and social care or using/delivering training on evacuation equipment.
