Full Job Description

We're looking for an experienced and motivated Fire Safety Officer to join our Asset Compliance Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in protecting our customers and ensuring our homes remain safe and compliant. You'll lead on fire safety across our housing portfolio, ensuring compliance with fire safety legislation, supporting building safety requirements and driving continuous improvement in fire risk management. You'll be at the forefront of fire safety compliance, undertaking and managing fire risk assessments, overseeing remedial works, engaging with residents and supporting the development of Building Safety Cases for our high-risk residential buildings. What you'll be doing:

  • Leading on Fire Risk Assessments across our housing stock and ensuring compliance with relevant fire safety legislation.
  • Managing fire safety action plans and overseeing the completion of remedial works.
  • Monitoring fire safety standards across refurbishment projects, void works and construction activities.
  • Building strong relationships with colleagues, contractors, West Midlands Fire Service and other key stakeholders.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance on fire safety matters across the organisation.
  • Supporting resident engagement activities and responding to customer enquiries relating to building and fire safety.
  • Promoting a positive fire safety culture and identifying opportunities for service improvement

    We're looking for a knowledgeable and proactive fire safety professional with experience of managing fire safety compliance within housing, property or a similarly regulated environment.
  • You'll bring:
  • Experience of undertaking or managing Fire Risk Assessments.
  • Strong knowledge of fire safety legislation, including the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order and related guidance.
  • An understanding of the Building Safety Act and the requirements for higher-risk residential buildings.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information to a range of audiences.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • A recognised fire safety qualification (or working towards one), such as the IFE Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety or equivalent.
