Fire Safety Manager

This is an exciting opportunity to take on a senior specialist role responsible for leading fire safety management, compliance and assurance across a diverse healthcare estate, helping to ensure safe environments for our patients, staff and visitors., The Fire Safety Manager is the Trusts designated professional lead and competent advisor for fire safety matters. You will provide specialist advice and assurance to senior management and governance committees, ensuring compliance with fire safety legislation, NHS guidance and Trust policies.,

• Providing expert advice on fire safety legislation, prevention and compliance.
• Leading the development and implementation of the Trust Fire Safety Management System.
• Managing and overseeing the fire risk assessment programme.
• Ensuring compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, NHS Fire code and Building Regulations.
• Developing and delivering fire safety training and evacuation procedures.
• Coordinating fire drills and emergency preparedness exercises.
• Investigating fire incidents and unwanted fire signals, identifying trends and preventative actions.
• Providing specialist fire safety advice on capital and estates projects.
• Leading the Fire Safety Team and supporting workforce development.
• Preparing audit reports, KPIs and assurance reports for senior leadership and Trust Boards.
• Liaising with Fire and Rescue Services, regulators and external partners.

  Working as a partnership, both Isle of Wight NHS Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust have a shared vision for excellence in care for our patients and communities; with a set of strategic aims underpinning how we will achieve this.
The single corporate service is delivered across both organisations. You may be based at either IWT or PHU and individuals may be required to undertake business travel between sites. For leaders managing staff across multi-site locations, you will need to be visible and provide in person leadership. The arrangements and frequency will be agreed locally.
