Role Description

This is an on-site Fire Risk Assessor Contractor role based around the Midlands (specifically the vicinity of Walsall, Dudley, Wolverhampton and Telford), with home working for any report writing. The Fire Risk Assessor Contractor will carry out comprehensive fire risk assessments across a variety of premises, identifying hazards, evaluating risk levels, and recommending proportionate control measures. The role involves inspecting buildings, reviewing relevant documentation, and ensuring compliance with current fire safety legislation and guidance.

The contractor will use Guardian Fire Safety's systems, including IgKnight, to produce clear, accurate, and actionable reports for clients. Daily activities include liaising with clients, explaining findings, supporting them in implementing recommendations, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of fire safety and related regulations.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Fire Safety knowledge, including practical experience in fire risk assessment and familiarity with relevant legislation and standards.


• Candidates should possess Health & Safety expertise, with an understanding of risk management principles and safe working practices in diverse environments.


• Candidates should possess solid Analytical Skills to interpret site findings, assess risk levels, and develop clear, evidence-based recommendations.


• Candidates should possess effective Communication skills for engaging with clients, explaining technical information in accessible terms, and producing high-quality written reports.


• Relevant professional certifications in fire safety to at least level 4, with level 5 or higher/MIFireE post nominal being desirable (to meet the competency framework requirements with BS8674:#####).


• Experience working with enforcement bodies, building control, or in a similar consultancy environment is an advantage.


• Ability to work independently on-site, manage time effectively, and travel to client locations as required.


• Experience completing Fire Risk Assessment work in both Commercial and Residential buildings.
