Full Job Description

Fire engineering isn't just about compliance, it's about helping projects work safely in the real world. We are recruiting a Fire Engineer to join our design team. This role can be based in our London, Liverpool or Manchester offices. At Ridge, our fire engineers are part of the design team from day one. In this interesting, varied and important role you will work across a genuinely varied portfolio, from Formula 1 facilities and heritage museums projects to university frameworks and complex historic residential buildings. It's the kind of work that calls for sound judgement, close collaboration and practical fire strategies. You'll support the development of fire strategies that go beyond compliance, helping to achieve practical, buildable solutions that work in the context of real projects. What you need to do to be effective in this role

  • Supporting the development of fire strategies across a range of projects
  • Undertaking fire engineering analysis, calculations and technical reporting
  • Working closely with architects, design teams and clients to influence design decisions
  • Attending project meetings and contributing to technical discussions
  • Supporting delivery of projects to programme and budget
  • Building an understanding of how fire engineering integrates with wider project delivery

A background in fire engineering (or a closely related STEM discipline) and be looking to develop your career within a consultancy environment.
  • We're particularly interested in people who:
  • Are comfortable applying engineering thinking to real-world problems
  • Want to be involved in projects, not just isolated technical tasks
  • Communicate clearly and are confident contributing in team environments
  • You'll also have:
  • A relevant degree (Fire Engineering or STEM)
  • Working knowledge of UK fire safety design guidance (e.g. BS 9991, BS 9999, Approved Document B) and how it is applied in practice
  • An interest in developing toward professional registration (IFE or equivalent)

Ridge is a Built Environment Consultancy. We provide our clients with access to a wide range of integrated expertise and professional disciplines to help them transform the quality and sustainability of the built environment.
  • Our people make what we do possible, helping us lead the way with quality, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit. That's why we challenge them to be the best they can be and offer exceptional training and career development opportunities at all levels. Ridge and Partners LLP
