Full Job Description
Fire Alarm Design Engineer Become part of our team as a Fire Alarm Design Engineer, contributing to the development of safe and forward-thinking environments. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and delivery of life safety systems, including Fire Detection and Alarm Systems, Voice Alarm (PA/VA) Systems, Aspirating Detection, and Disabled Refuge Systems. This position follows a hybrid working model, with 1-2 days per week in the office alongside occasional visits to client locations. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, enhance your technical capabilities, and support projects that safeguard people and assets. From initial concept through to final handover, you will ensure designs meet regulatory standards while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail throughout. What You'll Do:
- Design and develop fire protection systems from initial concept through to project completion, ensuring adherence to relevant standards and project requirements. Produce detailed Bills of Materials (BOM) to assist with cost planning and delivery timelines.
- Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to secure approvals and clarify design scope. Ensure all designs align with specific client procedures and project guidelines. Respond to Technical Queries (TQs) and Requests for Information (RFIs) in a timely and effective manner. Compile and finalise system documentation, ensuring Operation & Maintenance manuals are complete for handover. What We're Looking For: Software Skills: Adobe Pro / Bluebeam AutoCAD Microsoft Project Microsoft Office Suite Navisworks / Revit Technical Knowledge: Proven experience in designing fire and life safety systems Ability to produce clear, structured technical documentation and design specifications Working knowledge of relevant standards, including: BS 5839, BS 6266, BS 7671, BS 7273 FIA design training or equivalent qualification Desirable Skills: Experience working on large or complex fire system projects
