Full Job Description

We are seeking a Financial Services Tax Disputes Senior Manager. Our Tax Disputes lawyers are integrated into PwC's tax business. This enables the team to offer clients a fully integrated tax disputes offering, covering all stages of the dispute from initial enquiry and investigation to final resolution either by agreement or through the courts. Litigation is not a separate stage in the resolution process - It is part of that process. Clients come to us as we can also offer the tax technical depth of knowledge and the ability to flex how we resolve disputes; including recourse to other settlement mechanisms such as ADR or Treaty resolution as well as our recognised expertise in tax litigation. What your days will look like:

  • Day to day management of ongoing matters as part of a wider team, from liaising with HMRC and the Tribunal to helping manage the PwC and client relationships as well as building relationships with new clients.
  • Producing written advice for the client and drafting responses to correspondence.
  • Instructing Counsel, including preparing Instructions to Counsel and Notes of Conference/Consultation
  • Drafting key documentation such as Directions, Notices of Appeal, witness statements
  • Presenting case law and technical updates to the FS tax practice and at client events

You have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • You have experience in Litigation.
  • You have previous experience with management of projects and case management.
  • You already have excellent technical skills.
  • You are able to demonstrate that you are able to work independently
  • You must possess a Legal Qualification (or an international equivalent) or have equivalent work experience. This includes international candidates who qualify through experience in their home country.

In order to be the leading professional services firm it's important we have the right values, culture and behaviours embedded throughout our organisation, so our work reflects our purpose and we can successfully deliver our strategy.
  • Our values set the expectations for the way we interact with each other, our clients, and in the communities in which we operate. These values, and the behaviours that they require from us, are relevant to all our people regardless of grade. They support a culture that empowers our people to be the best they can be, through challenging experiences and encouraging our people to speak up to make the firm a better place. We want all our people to understand and embrace the culture and personally feel part of the legacy this will create for our future employees. We're a hugely diverse business, bound together by our purpose - to build trust in society and solve important problems for our clients and the communities in which we operate. We believe we can make the biggest impact when our purpose is embedded within everything we do.
