Financial Accountant

We are seeking a qualified Accountant to act as a finance partner to Professional Services leads within a public sector environment. This interim role requires a professional who is adept at financial management and experienced in working with senior management to present monthly financial positions. Experience in a Local Authority setting is preferable. Day-to-day of the role:

• Act as the day-to-day finance partner to Professional Services leads.
• Manage financial aspects including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Present monthly financial positions to senior management.
• Proactively participate in and lead key financial accounting tasks such as the production of statutory annual accounts, reconciliations, external returns, and claims.
• Lead on revenue and capital budget planning, monitoring, variance analysis, forecasting, and reporting of key variances.
• Work in partnership with Directorate budget controllers/holders, providing advice, challenging when necessary, and resolving issues.
  
  Qualified Accountant - ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, or equivalent.
• Experience in financial management including budgets, forecasts, and variances.
• Proven track record of working with senior management.
• Preferable experience in a Local Authority setting.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to handle complex financial data.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.
