Finance Trustee

We are looking for a volunteer Treasurer to help ensure the charity's finances remain well managed. This is an important but rewarding role, ideal for someone with financial experience, preferably a qualified accountant, who would like to make a meaningful contribution as part of a friendly and supportive trustee board. Earthworks supports people with learning disabilities, alongside volunteers, to manage 3.5 acres of beautiful eco-gardens in St Albans, through the practice of social and therapeutic horticulture The Treasurer is a Trustee of the charity and oversees the financial affairs of Earthworks St Albans, helping to ensure that the charity's finances are managed responsibly, transparently and in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements. Working closely with fellow trustees, the Treasurer provides financial leadership to the Board and supports informed decision-making through clear financial reporting and advice. Time commitment is circa 3-4 hours per month.,

• Financial oversight - preparing annual budgets, monitoring the charity's financial position, and ensuring appropriate financial controls are in place, supported by the Finance sub-committee.
• Financial reporting - presenting monthly financial reports to the Board and supporting the preparation of the annual accounts.
• Compliance and governance - helping to ensure compliance with charity law, financial regulations and the charity's governing document.
• Income management - overseeing budgets, income, reserves and cash flow to support the charity's objectives.
• Banking and payments - overseeing banking arrangements and payment processes, ensuring appropriate authorisation and financial controls.
