Full Job Description
In Greater Manchester we have been working as an ICS for the last five years - with strong working partnerships between health and social care and the voluntary sector. The creation of a statutory ICS has formalised the arrangements we have in place and mark another positive step in our journey, which started with the health and care devolution deal in 2015. The statutory ICS includes a new ICS NHS Body and Health and Care Partnership Board.
From April 2022 (subject to national legislative approval) the commissioning duties of Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), including their functions and roles, have transferred to be delivered as part of the new Greater Manchester ICS NHS Body. This will mean that functions and roles will be delivered differently in the future, with place based and Greater Manchester-level teams working alongside each other.
If you wish to read further details about the proposed changes details can be found at (Integrating Care- next steps to building strong and effective-integrated care systems)., During the 12-month placement the students will gain practical experience working in a financial environment, supporting the team of finance and contracting to ensure an efficient and effective service is provided to budget holders and contract managers in the NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care Board (ICB). During the placement the students will work across the three areas of finance including Management Accounts, Contracting and Corporate.
A work experience plan with learning outcomes will be agreed and progress against this plan will be monitored on a regular basis.
Throughout the placement the university will provide support for both the student and the employer when required.
For a detailed job description and main responsibilities of the role please see the job specification and description attached.
The role will support the Finance Directorate in producing accurate information, analysing data and report writing, along with gaining experience in all areas of Finance. It will require excellent time management skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines. The successful applicants will have:
· GCSE Maths and English
· Experience of computer systems
· Studying towards a finance/business studies/accounting qualification at a university based in Salford or Manchester
· Have just completed their second undergraduate year at university.
A work experience plan with learning outcomes will be agreed at the start of the placement and progress against this plan will be monitored on a regular basis. Throughout the placement the university will continue to provide support for both the student and the employer where required.
Please note this vacancy may close early after a sufficient number of applications have been received.
Please also note that if you are short listed for interview you will be contacted via email and it is important that you check your email regularly. If you do not hear from us by four weeks after the closing date then you may assume that on this occasion your application has been unsuccessful.
As a fair collection notice for all NHS employees previous service details will be requested electronically from their previous employer.
The successful candidate will be subject to the completion of satisfactory probationary period.
