Full Job Description

Working within a small team, the Finance Assistant will assist the day-to-day Financial Management functions and undertake a range of tasks. They will provide financial information to clinical and non-clinical colleagues, and support the development of robust financial processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness., The post holder will provide support to the Directorate Accountant in the delivery of financial and statutory obligations of the Trust's Financial Management Function. Responsibility for supporting the production of financial information and providing support to a group of clinical and departmental budget holders. To be a key member of the Trust's Finance Department and contribute to the delivery of it's overall objectives., Assist in the production of the monthly financial position of the Directorates in accordance with agreed timescales for the Directorate Accounts to report to the Assistant Head of Finance. Financial information and reports are produced in a timely and accurate manner. Queries are dealt with in a timely and professional manner. To work as part of a team in delivering financial information for the Directorates and the Directorate Accountant as and when required. Accurate financial information provided to Directorate Accountants for review. Maintain spreadsheets and records to assist the Directorate Accountants in ensuring that income and expenditure is recorded accurately. Assist in analysing income and expenditure, identifying variances, investigating where necessary and reporting to the Directorate Accountants. Assist in the reconciliation of control accounts on a monthly basis and maintain appropriate documentation on file. Assist the Directorate Accountants in administering the process of recharges and maintenance of recharge budgets. Assist in the annual budget setting process for Directorates., The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

  • GCSE Maths or equivalent, AAT or equivalent, Possess a high degree of numeracy and accuracy and the ability to work with spreadsheets to provide high quality financial information
  • Demonstrable ability to work with MS Office, particularly Excel, Access and Word
  • Good communication skills in order to work effectively, confidently liaising with staff with the department, Trust and other Trusts.
  • Demonstrable ability to organise own work demonstrative iniative required to ensure all tasks are completed
