Sulzer is a leading engineering company with a proud heritage of innovation. Join our global team to grow your expertise and develop innovative solutions that enable a prosperous and more sustainable society.
About the role
At Sulzer, we don't just manufacture pumps—we engineer and build critical equipment that keeps vital industries moving across the globe. From power generation and water infrastructure to energy, chemicals, and industrial processing, our pumps are trusted in some of the world's most demanding applications. Our Leeds facility is one of Sulzer's flagship pump manufacturing centres, combining decades of engineering expertise with modern manufacturing technology following significant investment and refurbishment.
We're looking for an experienced Final Inspection Lead to join our recently refurbished, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Leeds, where you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring every pump package leaves our site meeting the highest standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. This is not a typical inspection role. You'll be working alongside teams who design, manufacture, assemble, and test some of the largest and most technically advanced pumps in the industry. Some of our products weigh up to 150 tonnes, requiring exceptional coordination, precision, and engineering excellence to take them from concept to customer delivery.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading final inspection activities for complete pump packages and rotating equipment.
- Coordinating the final assembly verification process before customer dispatch.
- Reviewing and approving final manufacturing records and quality documentation.
- Ensuring products comply with ISO 9001 standards and internal quality requirements.
- Verifying that all customer specifications, technical requirements, and contractual obligations have been fulfilled.
- Overseeing and signing off complete pump packages and bareshaft assemblies.
- Working closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Project Management, and Quality teams to resolve issues and ensure on-time delivery.
- Supporting customer inspections and witness activities where required.
- Driving a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across the operation.
What We're Looking For
- Experience within heavy engineering, rotating equipment, pumps, turbines, motors, or similar manufacturing environments.
- Strong understanding of final inspection, quality assurance, and documentation control processes.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
- Experience coordinating inspections involving large, complex engineered products.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A proactive approach with the confidence to make critical quality decisions.
What we offer you
- Core Benefits
- A competitive salary
- A company-wide bonus scheme
- 33 days' holiday
- You will be eligible to join the Company's Medicash health cash plan, which allows you to claim back the cost of everyday healthcare expenses such as dental, optical, and GP services.
- Defined pension contribution
- Employee Assistance Programmes
- Discounts on shopping, entertainment & lifestyle
- Costco membership option
- Discounted personal car leasing for you, family & friends
- Long Service Awards
- Ongoing learning through Sulzer Learning Pathways
- Armed Forces Support - As a Silver Award holder of the MoD Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, we actively support veterans, reservists, and Cadet Adult Volunteers. This includes policies that enable time for training, camps, and deployment, alongside access to a growing internal military network.
Onsite Perks
- Free, secure parking with EV charging
- Multi-faith prayer room
- Newly modernised work areas
- Community & Wellbeing
- Lively Sports & Social Club with events & prize draws
- 24/7 onsite gym
- Subsidised vending machines
- Subsidised Canteen offering hot and cold food
