Opportunity to support a 23-year-old young man who has Down Syndrome, Autism and learning disabilities. He is a very loving young man who is close with his family. He benefits greatly from having a structured and familiar weekly routine, with regular activities and opportunities to get out into the community - he loves rock music and going to see tribute bands, theatre shows, cinema, cooking, regular social groups, he loves dogs, his iPad, and spending time with others, whilst also appreciating quiet time.

He lives in his own home, where he currently receives 24-hour, round-the-clock care and support from a small dedicated team. He also has some 2:1 support in the community, allowing him to enjoy activities and maintain an active social life. We are looking for a kind, caring, patient and reliable female Support Worker/Carer to join a small, friendly team providing care and support. All requirements and further information will be discussed at interview.

This is an as-and-when required/bank position, and hours will be offered when required to cover gaps in the rota, staff sickness, and annual leave so may be suitable for somebody looking for additional hours around their other work or commitments.

Essential Requirements:

  • Female

  • Full driving licence (vehicle provided)

  • Previous experience of Autism/Learning Disabilities/Mental Health

  • Excellent patience and understanding

  • A genuinely kind, caring and gentle approach

  • A calm and supportive manner

  • The ability to build trust and develop a positive relationship at the individual's pace

  • Reliability and a strong commitment to providing consistent care

  • The ability to work both 1:1 and 2:1

  • Flexibility to provide occasional cover when required

  • Be comfortable supporting with personal care

  • Comfortable administering medication

  • Cleared DBS
