Full Job Description
You'll be supporting people with learning disabilities, autistic people, and people with complex needs who may also require specialist support due to behaviours of distress across a number of supported living homes, so you'll need to be confident adapting your approach and providing personalised support wherever you're working. As a floating Support Worker, you'll be comfortable travelling between locations and quickly becoming part of different teams, ensuring continuity of high-quality support for the people we support. The role includes:
- Supporting people with daily living hobbies and maintaining their independence.
- Providing personal care and assisting with personal care when required.
- Administering or supporting with medication.
- Working alongside families, healthcare professionals and colleagues to achieve positive outcomes.
- Promoting communication, choice, control and decision making.
- Keeping accurate records using digital systems.
- Supporting people who may display behaviours of distress and require a consistent, skilled approach. This role requires full flexibility. You will work a combination of days and waking night shifts including weekends and bank holidays. There are no fixed shift patterns, so you'll need to be comfortable working across both days and waking nights depending on the home needs.
- Be passionate about helping people live great lives.
- Have experience working within health and social care or a similar support environment.
- Be flexible and adaptable, with the confidence to work across multiple homes.
- Be calm, patient and resilient when supporting people during challenging situations.
- Have excellent communication and relationship building skills.
- Be comfortable using basic IT systems and completing electronic records.
