Family Support Worker (Early Help)

IDS Early Help family support worker role- South/ mid Powys. This role involves supporting families where a child has a disability. This role sits within the Integrated Disability service, in North Powys, a team of wellbeing workers, social workers and family support workers. You will be based at either Brecon or Llandrindod Wells when in the office, or working from home. This role involves direct work with the parent and child, and chairing Early Help meetings to ensure they are outcome focused for the child. The role will on occasion include providing support to families supported by Care and Support plans, and their Social Worker.,

• Qualification or training relevant to child development, therapeutic support, disability services, family support or social care.
What you will do: -Arrange regular Team Around the Family meetings -Keep plans outcome focused and on track -Direct work with the child and family -Carers assessments -Support to implement routines and boundaries -Deliver family support interventions for children and young people with disabilities, Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and neurodevelopmental conditions. -Undertake carers' assessments and provide support to parent carers to improve family wellbeing and resilience. -Support families to implement strategies identified through programmes such as Incredible Years ASD and other evidence-based interventions. -Work collaboratively with families, schools, health professionals and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people. -Support parents to develop confidence and skills in understanding and responding to their child's disability, neurodivergence, behavioural presentation or health needs.

• Trained and experienced in delivering Incredible Years Autism Spectrum
Disorder (IY ASD) programmes and interventions.
• Experience of delivering structured family support packages and evidence based parenting interventions.
• Knowledge and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), neurodivergence and Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
• Training in the assessment and support of parent carers, including undertaking carers' assessments and identifying support needs.
• Experience of supporting families where children have medical, physical health, developmental or behavioural needs.
• Experience of undertaking direct therapeutic and practical support with children in the family home environment.
• Ability to model and coach parents
• Experience of delivering interventions focused on strengthening family resilience and preventing escalation to statutory services.
• Experience of multi-agency working alongside health, education, social care and voluntary sector partners.
