Full Job Description
We are working closely with local authority in Liverpool to assist with the appointment of a Family Support Worker, on a 3-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration., The Family Support Worker (Grade 5) provides high-quality, child-centred support to children with disabilities and their families within Liverpool City Council's Early Help Short Breaks Service. The postholder works directly with vulnerable children, young people, parents, and carers to assess needs, coordinate short break provision, and promote positive outcomes that enhance family resilience, wellbeing, and independence.,
- Complete carers' needs assessments and identify appropriate support to enhance family resilience and wellbeing.
- Assess requests for care and support, gathering relevant information to inform appropriate service provision.
- Ensure the voice, wishes, feelings, and lived experiences of children and young people are central to all assessments, reviews, and support planning.
- Provide practical family support to help parents implement effective routines, boundaries, communication strategies, and positive behaviour support where required.
- Signpost families to appropriate Early Help services, Family Hubs, community resources, health services, education providers, voluntary organisations, and specialist support.
- Identify safeguarding concerns promptly and escalate them in accordance with Council safeguarding procedures.
Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in Children and Young People's Services, Health and Social Care, Early Years, Family Support, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience. - GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics. Essentials:
- Experience working with vulnerable children, young people, and families within children's services, early help, social care, education, health, or a related setting.
- Experience supporting children with disabilities, additional needs, or complex family circumstances.
- Understanding of the Short Breaks Service and Early Help principles.
- Knowledge of safeguarding legislation, child protection procedures, and children's welfare responsibilities.
- Experience promoting the voice of the child in assessment and planning processes.
